Milton's Barber Shop

Was excited to get my haircut by Juanita as I had heard such good things about her. Had already waited over an hour...then a homophobic joke between the other barber and a teenage boy. I was shocked! I had no choice but to walk out. They won't be getting my business. Our youth need understanding and open-minded adults! I hope they won't get your business either.



UPDATE: Later the same day, Milton posted to my facebook review (which consisted of the exact same text above). Here is his response: Milton Costa - Did I say a homophobic joke? Or did I ask what Movie he would like to see "and don't say Brokeback Mountain." I NEVER said anything Homophobic... I got 1 employee & she is Gay!! Personally, I think you are being unfair about this... I no longer need to explain myself...



My response to Milton: Milton - that is the definition of homophobic - you know as well as I do that you said that to be funny because Brokeback Mountain is about two gay men....you didn't say "and don't say some sappy love story"...you explicitly named a gay movie. I categorized it as a joke because you said with the intention of being funny. Furthermore, the mere fact that you dismiss my feelings and perceptions and make no room for the possibility that the comments could be out of line confirms that you operate under heterosexual privilege. And just because you have gay employees doesn't mean you still can't be homophobic. It was inappropriate and unprofessional. Look at the support I'm getting from straight and gay people alike. Any chance you had at steering this comment into a positive light is gone because you chose to dismiss it. You don't need to explain yourself. Your attitude and comments already do. Will my negative reviews close your business? No. I know that, but I do have a right to share my experience.
