I've lived in Castro Valley nearly all my life (I'm 60) and I've always been impressed with Chabot Theater under each individual management. but especially after the renovation of the seating. The movie selections are great, the times of viewing are always convenient and they have an added insentive of making Tuesdays a family day (economical). It's a fun way for friends when they want a casual night out to get together. It's never crowded and the audience is always curtious. There are so few little jems like this left. It used to be Danville Threater was the treat when were young (Danville was "in the country" then!)
We love going to the Chabot to see movies. It is a nice small town single screen theatre. It's nice to go to the movies without the crowds!!
Because it only has one movie, you can't go see what you want when you want to. But it's cheap, good theatre, good food, small, and they have $4.50 Tuesdays and Free Popcorn Thursdays. Love it!
Forget the megaplex 1000, step back in time as you enter this place and enjoy the movie in this single screen cinema. The sound has been upgraded and the price is right.
This restaurant, Chabot Cinema, hasn't been rated because (AS THE NAME IMPLIES) it is a cinema. A cinema is a place that shows movies. A restaurant is an establishment that serves food. As local cinemas go, this one is great. It's the old style we had in the 60's and before. There is a balcony, and if you arrive early enough you can snag the loge seats and put your feet up while watching a first-run film. Tuesday is family day - check the theatre for policy and prices - and they offer very inexpensive matinee bargains as well. They also make their own delicious popcorn. As restaurants go, I hope you like the delicious popcorn.
