The Inspectional Services Department is administered by the City of Cambridge in Massachusetts. The department is responsible for the enforcement of laws and related city ordinances. It provides state building, electrical, gas and mechanical code enforcement services. The Inspectional Services Department also administers the provisions of the state sanitary codes related to the inspection of housing communities, day care centers, food handling establishments and swimming pools. The department is responsible for the inspection and approval of new piping systems. It issues licenses to summer camps and investigates complaints concerning the safety of plumbing installations. In addition, the Inspectional Services Department is responsible for the issuance of demolition permits and certificates of occupancy and inspection.
