After reading the previously listed reviews I am schocked that anyone would rate Animal Motel at anything less than five stars. When boarding there I have always experienced exceptional customer service from the moment I walked in the door. I am confident that the staff has taken great care of my dog, who always runs into the Motel as though he has missed an old friend!! Also I was allowed to view the kennel area when I asked, with no question. I think if more people wrote reviews the number of satified customers would highly outway the few unsatisfied people, as most of my friends and some family also use Animal Motel and are just as Happy as I am. Thank you for you wonderful care of my pet!!\r

Blunt but true, this business is run by a family of idiots. People that have been boarding their dogs and cats here for years have wool over their eyes. Yes, this kennel is always very clean because they run a pet travel agency as well and they would never want a TSA agent to come in and see hair and dirt everywhere and take away their license. Other than that, I have no idea how these people have been in business for so long. Daryl has no idea how to run a business or how to manage employees, and if you ever have had a conversation with him you will see that this is not hard to believe. Dogs come out of the groom room bleeding from cuts and nail clips realistically at least 4 times a week. Animal Motel does not have the word ""booked"" in their vocabulary, and will overbook on busy weekends, therefore putting your pets in crates when they run out of room ,and still charging you $24 for that indoor/outdoor suite you asked for. There is a total communication breakdown at this place, but somehow there is always time for people to gossip. Different departments never work together to communicate information, and your pets are the ones that pay the price. This place cuts corners in every aspect of their service. Most of the employees that are hired here DO love animals and are good people. This place has money and repeat business in mind, not your pet, which is what it should be. For the love of your pooch, PLEASE BOARD SOMEWHERE ELSE.

I use Animal Motel for boarding......Grooming.......and Training, it is the best never had any problems, family run with caring staff.....always a pleasure to do business with them.

I had to board my dog due to an family emergency, he had never been away before and I was so...... nervous but when I brought him in the staff took him under their wing and I called everyday to check on him, and when I went to pick him up he was outside in the play area and had no problems, I never boarded before and thought of kennels as dirty but this is a very clean kennel and the staff did a great job with him. Thank you!

Animal Motel is by far superior in their training methods. I am proud to have a graduate of their class in my home!

I used this kennel last year & the early part of this year (two times total). They don't allow tours (with the exception of certain months). One should question any kennel that does not allow daily, or at the least, weekly tours. You have a right to see where your pet will be boarding & what their boarding conditions will be. The staff was very cold & unfriendly when dropping off my pet. My dog was VERY stressed each time I picked him up from this kennel. He was nervous & had the shakes & had actually lost weight. Most of the food I left for my pet was returned when I picked him up, yet this kennel's records indicated an ""excellent"" appetite during his stay. It took him weeks to return to normal. I now use a new kennel & by comparison, it is far better & much less stressful to my dog! I do not recommend this kennel at all! For the sake of your pet, find another kennel! Always tour, always research. Animals can't talk, but your pet 's behaviour & attitude are always the best indicators of what their boarding experience was. This is also not the cheapest kennel around...\r But you don't always get what you pay for! Especially in this case!

The review (issue) is Dog Obedience classes. I have a 10 month old Cocker Spaniel named Freddie who exhibits spirit, and friendliness, but can be rather wild at times. After incidents with a Groomer and Vet Office I enrolled Fred in the Animal Motel Obedience class. My dog was the only dog in the class which started June 2007, which I feel speaks volumes as to the school's popularity. The first two classes (2nd, 3rd week), went very well, Fred was magnificient. He heeled, did sit, did circles, did stand, and did ""Down."" Both Instructor and members of a previous class, who were working in an area next to us commented how good Freddie was doing. When we showed up for the third class, the owner of Animal Motel, Donald Gutknecht was there. He said the Instructor had medical reasons for not working that day and he was going to teach the class. What follows is the actions of the Director of Training, Don Gutknecht. We started out by heeling, walked around once in a circle. I then was told to stop and Freddie sat without verbal command, which was very good in deed. I then heeled Fred and was told to stop and have him lay down, or ""DOWN."" Fred was fighting me which was odd because he did ""DOWN"" the previous class with little problem. Don walked up and grabbed her pinch collar and placed it under his foot so Freddie's face was press to the ground. Fred started yelping, crying, squelling, but would not lay down. Don looked at me and said, ""Now we wait him out."" Fred continued to cry and yelp, I never heard my puppy cry before. I said, ""That's enough, let's get the F*** out of here,"" while I picked Fred up and walked out. Some breeds might respond to torture, (i.e. Pit Bulls, Rottweilers), but a Cocker Spaniel? Freddie loves people, his tail is in constant motion, I can't have him experience a stranger hurt him. I'm hoping Fred won't be scarred by the incident. There are many Obedience classes so please pick another, don't go to Animal Motel.

We were loyal customers to the Animal Motel for 5 years for boarding and grooming. The last time our dogs were there Patty cut our dog's belly and didn't even tell us. We noticed when we got home. Both dogs acted very skiddish that night and for the next few days. When I called the next morning to ask what happened to our dogs she said nothing happened, when I asked her about the cut on his belly, all she said was the dogs were matted. Well, she cut him on his belly where there is no fur! I asked to speak to the owner and told him the story. He said nothing happened to them because Patty didn't write anything in her notes. I said well, there is a cut on my dog's belly and they are both acting very skiddish like something happened to them. He said, ""Well, what do you want me to do, lie to you and tell you something?"" That is a direct quote. I said, ""Well, I can't accept that answer and you just lost a very good customer."" He didn't care! I will never take my dogs there again and I encourage everyone that reads this to not take there dog or cat there.\r They obviously don't care about animals or customers!
