Culpepper's

The newly-refurbished - actually, the more accurate description is the "newly-created" Culpepper's is better than before: the new facility is more open, airier and cleaner than the old storefront. There has been an increase in some prices, but the food - especially the fish cakes, pudding and souse, fish dinners, peas and rice, and saltfish and coo-cco, is still good enough to warrant a trek all the way from Queens. This is saying a lot, because there are new Bajan restaurants opening up in the other boroughs, especially in Queens, that can compete with the long-established Nostrand Avenue heavyweights like Culpepper's. To borrow from and paraphrase the old commercial, Culpepper's: it's STILL worth the trip!
