The department also supports a part-time police academy that provides training to people interested in a career in law enforcement. The Branford Police Department supports the TRIAD program, which provides assistance to victimized senior citizens and assists in educating them. It is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) and the State of Connecticut Police Officer Standards and Training Commission.         Hello. The Branford Police do a great job. I am totally in favor oftraffic stops for inappropriate driving. My only dissatisfaction stems from lack of common courtesy. (ie manners). I do speak from experience. There is NO NEED to be rude when making a traffic stop. I am a professional woman and always treat others with respect and dignity. The same may not be said of Officer Kenny. While doing his job, I found him to be curt and quite unpleasant. This was true during my entire encounter with him. I immediately admitted I was WRONG, and apologized. I continued to explain to him that I was a visiting nurse with an urgent situation,, thus my use of cell phone while driving. I was not trying to "get out" of aticket, simply justifying my actions. The attitude of this officer was enough to curl my hair!! Descriptions that come to mind are rude, brusque, arrogant and uncaring. My brother has been a police officer for more than 30 years, so it's not that I am unfamiliar with the life of an officer. Common courtesy would go a long way in improving Officer Kennys relationship with the public and the reputation of the Branford Police Department as a whole.
