We needed a large amount of landscaping under our new decks to meet county fire mitigation reqts. Jim came out and instantly understood exactly what was needed including some multi terraced rows under the largest two decks. The crew was incredibly efficient and even worked in the rain by rigging a tent over the work area...most contractors would have gone home for the day. Work was completed quickly and under budget. Terrific company which deserves the highest rating.

This has to be one of the best companies on our planet. We have been astonished at the professional range One Earth has offered, from significant and complex outdoor building projects to selecting the perfect plants. Every person on the One Earth team is extremely competent, careful, highly skilled and friendly. And, everyone cares. Our urban yard has been transformed into a beautiful, magical oasis. My husband and I say everyday "thank goodness we hired them". They stay with you too, for seasonal needs and maintenance. We are in love.

For the second year in a row we have used One Earth Landscapes to make improvements to our landscaping. Jim's knowledge of and experience in landscaping in and around Boulder make him a valuable consultant, and his execution of planned improvements has fully satisfied us. He is a pleasure to deal with, as is his crew. If the actual costs of the job are lower than his estimate, he passes the savings on to his clients. We have so much confidence in his work we do not even go out for competitive bids. We know skill and good value when we see it.

We had One Earth redo our backyard, which after 20 years had become much shadier due to neighbor's trees. The work involved digging up the beds, relocating and rebuilding the vegetable garden, installing a drip system, and having a coordinated plan for landscape plants (as opposed to my randomly falling in love with plants at the nursery regardless of their needs). Carol, who is wonderful to work with, designed the plan, and Jim's great crew did the hard work. When they said they'd be there, they were there, and the work went much faster than I expected. Jim was also willing to let us do as much of the prep work as possible to keep costs down. The yard is beautiful now, and my only regret is that I waited so long to redo it. I also want to mention that I emailed Jim because I was worried about brown needles on one of the pines, and he came right out to check on it (it's fine). We plan to add more to the landscape next spring, per Carol's design.

From the very first meeting with Jim, it was clear he wanted to provide landscaping responsive to our wishes while at the same time adding his expertise to the planning. We purchased our 25 year old home 5 years ago and while the landscaping had "good bones" it required updating and order. Jim was able to assess what would work best in our yard - sunny in front, very shady in back - choosing appropriate plants and bushes. He was always conscious of cost and efficiency, and ready to answer any and all questions. Now we can sit back and enjoy the rest of the warm months in our lovely yard.

We hired One Earth Landscapes to do ur backyard at our new house. They were able to start with a clean slate because the house had just been built. They provided an in person consultation and a free design based on our discussion. We liked the design as it was organic" and not just square patches of grass and plants. They have many options for plant and trees. The document they provided with all the choices would have worked better if there were also photos provided with the plant names. IT took us quite a while to research each one. During the process they were pretty good with responding to our questions via email, but they should learn to Reply All so that both my wife and I would get the info. Price was decent. They were quick and very clean during the installation of everything from irrigation, soil amendment, sod, pathways, plants and trees. They came back a week after and adjusted sod and irrigation. We asked for a flat area on the side of the house for garbage and recycling containers, but did not really get that. It was sloped too much and just had large stone that made it hard to roll the bins onto that area. After a couple months we had water issues in our neighborhood, some from overall drainage and some from overwatering by neighbors. Jim and Ann were kind enough to meet with us and our neighbors to figure out what the issue was. We discussed irrigation clock adjustments and some other options. They will look into it again in the spring and assess the plants and trees that died off from overwatering issues. We will update review at that time. I would recommend One Earth Landscapes to friends and family.

After we sustained significant water damage to our outside patio, One Earth repaired the damage and added on to another existing patio. One Earth did a GREAT job on the patios, they were professional, started the job on time and finished on time, were very easy to work with, and finished the job UNDER BUDGET! After having a septic tank replaced, installing a water service line (about 4' wide and 5' deep trench) and removing structures around a cistern we needed the area around our house re-graded (roughly the equivalent of a typical building lot). Jim came out and gave me a bid that allowed for me to participate in directing the work and stopping when I felt we'd accomplished our goals. The cost ended being 30% less than I expected and the results exceeded our expectations. Since then we've had him grade our 1/4 mile long driveway and again he came up with an innovative way to get it done for much less than we expected. We're delighted to have found him.

One Earth Landscapes was able to help us with drainage problems we encountered during the Sept 2013 floods. They graded and re-contoured our yards and installed a drainage system tied in to the gutters. They tore out a huge crumbling egress window well, originally made of railroad ties, and built a new more functional one from stone blocks. Very attractive!

In addition to the flood remediation work, One Earth designed a new landscape plan for our Front and Side yards. Their work included new concrete sidewalks, a new wood fence and gate, new xeriscaped areas to replace old grass and overgrown trees, a very nice new paver pathway leading to our front porch, and irrigation system upgrades. We are enjoying our new low-maintenance Front Yard (no grass to mow!) and look forward to the new plantings attaining their full size in a year or two.

Our big job was done in two phases, starting in December in the snow and cold and finishing in June. All of the folks at One Earth were competent and hard working; the quality of their work was very high and, weather permitting, they met the agreed-upon schedules. We would be very happy to use them again in the future.

Jim is a great guy to work with. And the projects get done well and come out looking great. I've worked with him for many years now, and always things turn out nicely. And if there are problems or new items emerge, the budget doesn't get slammed. I highly recommend him.

One Earth Landscaping is right in the middle or redesigning/landscaping our yard. This group has been on (even under) budget, up front, terrific and communication, on time, and creative problem solvers. After some bad experiences with various contractors, the One Earth team has restored my faith. Our project manager, Brandon, has been a terrific problem solver (figuring out a decking solution to access hot tub controls), calling Comcast promptly when a line was nicked in installing sprinklers, suggesting cost effective materials and improving the plan on the go. Terrific!!

I have high standards (Type A personality), and Jim has been able to exceed expectations. He has accomplished design conception / overall vision, stone work, planting, irrigation, water feature, fire feature, and more on our property. We have a more East Coast/traditional aesthetic, and Jim was able to figure out how to make that work in a Colorado climate (which speaks to his expertise with plants and growing conditions/requirements). We are thrilled with the outcome thus far, and plan to continue using One Earth. His crews are knowledgeable, courteous, hard working, timely, and clearly espouse the values and vision that Jim has set for his business. We are confident in Jim and look forward to growing our relationship and landscape together for years to come.

Not as good as they used to be! I've been with One Earth for five years, but the past season and this spring have been disappointing. Service, quality and communication issues are troubling. They lost some key people a year ago, and the new ones are far less responsive. They do two properties in my neighborhood, and we're both looking for possible replacements. I hope Jim can turn this around.

We had a excellent experience with Jim and his company. The retaining wall and flag stone steps that he designed and built are beautiful. Jim and his crew are a pleasure to work with. We could not have had a better result or a better relationship. I would use One Earth again.

This is a very reliable company for lawn care, snow removal and landscaping. They just finished another job for me and it was done well, in a very timely manner and it even came in under the estimated bid. Very important for seniors on a limited income.

We have worked on several projects with One Earth Landscaping over the past 12 years. I cannot recommend them highly enough. Jim Zarka is an amazing landscape architect and it's wonderful seeing how his designs change and evolve throughout the year and over time. His use of boulders, stones and unusual, but hardy plants add an element of enchantment to his designs. All of the One Earth team do meticulous work that they obviously enjoy and they are always very pleasant to have around. Jim gives accurate estimates, completes the jobs on time, and is not hesitant to improve on anything he doesn't think is perfect. We 100% trust his vision, enjoy working with him, and are thrilled with our landscaping.

Jim Zarka and his crew are competent, creative, conscientious and excellent craftsmen at landscaping. In particular, the guys who did the stonework at our house were perfectionists working with 500 lb flagstones, prepping the ground, cutting massive rock, and fitting them all together on a sloping grade. And Jim knows which plants work in our Colorado climate and their one year warranty on all plants is great. One Earth Landscapes is a 5-star company!

I first started working with Jim Zarka, owner of One Earth Landscaping 12 years ago. We had just purchased a house on one acre of unimproved land. We had a completely empty slate and had no idea what to do. After interviewing several landscapers, we chose Jim and his team to landscape the entire property. I was a huge job and Jim did and excellent job in every aspect of the project. When Jim said something would be done, it was. At the end we had a beautiful yard at a reasonable price.



Now we live on a farm and are working with Jim again. Unlike our first project where we had a clean slate, this time we have extensive landscaping that we want to improve. So we are attacking this project in phases, trying to preserve the better aspects of the current landscaping. We just finished the first phase and it looks great. I'm looking forward to working with Jim on the rest of the landscaping.
