I came to the Enchanted Tea Room with a party of 8 people this past August, and we all had a fabulous time! Sherrie worked very hard to provide us with a memorable experience. The food and teas were delicious, and the vegetarian in our group especially loved her selections. We will be back!

Delightful experience—

I’d have to say our experience was quite different than the earlier reviewers. We went with an English friend from out of town, and had a rather enjoyable time. When we called to make reservations, there did seem to be a little concern about arriving on time and a couple other things, but these weren’t issues of any consequence, nor was there any problem with accommodating a vegetarian food request (the replacement food was tremendous). The owner was pleasant and rather talkative, but had lots of interesting tidbits to share, including references to other fun shops in town. She was solicitous regarding our needs and choices (we did take a little time in thinking about the possibilities), and thoughtful about checking back with us. AND the food was great—including terrific potato / corn, and tomato / basil soups. Also the shop had lots of interesting china, and paraphernalia to buy. All-in-all a delightful experience. We plan to go back, and take friends.

Avoid!

The owner of this place is so rude! We couldn't figure it out but she ruined our experience. We were here a few years ago with the previous owners and had a lovely afternoon- this time it was uncomfortable to say the least. Don't waste your time!!

There is NO excuse for the own...

There is NO excuse for the owner of the Enchanted Tea Room's poor manners and horrible business sense. I have never been treated so poorly by a business owner in my entire life. My mom, sister and I have been visiting the "Enchanted Tea Room", for over 10 years as a Mother's Day tradition when we visit the shore each May. Back when it was called "Tea by the Sea", the owner was lovely and sweet. A few years back, it was taken over by a new owner and hasn't been the same since; but we continue to go back because it has become a family tradition. Two years ago, my sister had a baby and we began making our reservations for three plus a baby, which had never been a problem...until now. This year, when I called to make our reservation for Saturday, May 5th, the woman on the phone began to tell me what a horrible weekend I picked to come into town as that is the weekend of "Springfest" and it would be difficult to find parking. I told her we didn't mind that at all and wanted to continue and make the reservation for three plus a baby. She asked how old the baby is and I answered two. She became very flustered and told me that they could not possibly accommodate a two-year-old and that I was going to have to find somewhere else to go. I assured her it would be no problem, as we had brought my niece in the past and we would keep a close eye on her. The woman on the phone then put me on hold to confer with her manager. She came back to the phone a few minutes later and angrily said, "I am sorry, we cannot accommodate a two-year-old, you will have to find somewhere else to go!" I gently said "I hope you will reconsider as this is a family tradition and we are loyal customers..." at which point I was disconnected.

I called back to find the phone busy. I called a few minutes later and it rang and rang and eventually the answering machine picked up. I called a third time and said "Hi, I just spoke with you a minute ago and we were disconnected, or maybe you hung up on me..." and she said "YES I DID HANG UP ON YOU! AND I WILL DO IT AGAIN! WE DO NOT ACCOMODATE TWO-YEAR-OLDS, it is dangerous here and unsafe for small children to be running around. Last year a small child cut their head on one of our tables and we will not go through that again". I asked to speak to the owner and she said "I AM THE OWNER!" I tried to interject that I was calling to make a reservation for just the three adults but was so appalled that she was speaking to me so horribly and would hang-up on a loyal customer...and SHE HUNG UP ON ME AGAIN!!!!! I am so upset to be treated so poorly by the owner of a place that held so many wonderful memories for my family and I. We will NEVER go back to this Tea Room again.
