General Info

Established in 2004 as an independent tax exempt charitable organization, Bay Nature Institute works to conserve natural history communities, including local nonprofit organizations, museums, research institutions, open space agencies and individuals. It was started as project of the Clapperstick Institute, which is the nonprofit affiliate of Heyday Books. The institute publishes a magazine and arranges and leads outings to places featured in Bay Nature magazine. Bay Nature Institute also sponsors guided walks and hikes, as well as community events and presentations. It broadcasts a series of short video programs, Bay Nature on the Air, which is based on stories from Bay Nature magazine and highlights the natural diversity of Northern California.
