Blue Benn

Insofar as my girlfriend and I are both college-educated professionals who worked in restaurants when we were in college in the 1970s, we are highly qualified to review restaurants ourselves.

On Sunday, 08 July 2018, we went for brunch at the Blue Benn Diner in Bennington: the service was very bad--we had to wait VERY long to be seated (30+ minutes); we had to wait VERY long (10+ minutes) for the waitress to come to our table and take our order; we had to wait VERY long (another 30+ minutes for our order [pancakes!]); and, we had to wait another 5+ minutes at the cash register to pay our bill (because no one was tending the register)--and the atmosphere was even worse: it was a VERY dirty little diner--with a dirty floor; we were given dirty silverware (which we had to request be exchanged for clean silverware); the cream container was dirty; the butter dish was dirty (they both had old, dried egg yolk on them)... and, the wait staff appeared to be oblivious to the lack of cleanliness. Even our bill appeared to have been SOAKED in bacon grease!...

The wait for our order--for two orders of pancakes--was INEXCUSABLE (at 30+ minutes--for pancakes)!!!... BUT, in all fairness, the coffee was VERY good--and the pancakes were EXCELLENT!!!...

Nonetheless, it was still a VERY dirty little diner--with service that was definately NOT very good... but, in all fairness, the waitress did respond to all requests (e.g., to exchange our dirty silverware for clean silverware)... but, she was very, VERY S-L-O-W- to respond to those requests.... More importantly, the wait staff should have been pro-active: diners should NOT have to make multiple, special requests for cleanliness!...
