Staff does not do their jobs have their cell phones out on facebook spend hours waiting and then rushed when the doctor finally see you don't give out prescriptions to the right pharmacy

Following up with the DR. after an emergency room visit. I had to wait 3 days before they could see me in their office. When I did get in to see the PA they were not concerned that I had been to the hospital with what the ER DR. called "A very bad urinary infection" and that I needed to follow up with a specialist as soon as possible. 3 weeks later when I had a routine DR. visit for lab work (A1c) test, I asked them just how long was I going to have to wait for a referral to see a Urologist. With a surprised look on their face they asked" why do you need a UROLOGIST. I reminded them of my trip to the ER and the follow up visit to their office and the paper work I had given them that I received from the hospital stating what I was treated for, again nothing but blank stares. I then spoke with a person from the back that takes care of the referrals, She told me she had nothing, no paper work no memo, nothing. I have for a long time thought that they are only interested in treating me for my type 2 diabetes. I have told them over the course of the last 3 years about several things I was suffering from and it is like they just don't hear me and nothing is ever done. I hesitate to leave reviews about anyone or anything, but this needs to be said. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCE would I recommend First fruits medical clinic or DR. Okpalo and definitely not his staff. I am not a stranger to this clinic. I do not even have to tell them who I am when going into the office. They know me by name there. I am 68 years old and getting to the age that when something goes wrong it is serious and needs attention.

When I gave birth at Christus Spohn, Dr. Okpalo was my baby's doctor. He would not enter the room if I was breastfeeding. My daughter had a very mild case of jaundice - I saw her reports - and he wanted to put her under bili lights for 24 hours... during which time, I wouldn't be able to hold her and she'd be bottle fed. When I asked him if I could decide against any of his recommendations, he became very angry and stormed out of the room. On top of it all, he kept us in the hospital for three days... even though baby and I were doing fine. When I asked why, a nurse and my doctor each told me that Dr. Okpalo seems to feel that "the hospital is the safest place for babies." Later, a friend of mine who had a toddler who was within the normal weight range for her age but was taller than most kids her age was using Dr. Okpalo as her primary care physician (totally against my advice.) Dr. Okpalo suggested the toddler was not "thriving" and should perhaps be admitted to the hospital. My friend worked things out with him and then changed physicians. I wouldn't recommend this man to ANYONE, but especially not to breastfeeding mothers or moms who are leery of hospital stays.
