Dream Bakery

I have never written a yelp review but I feel obligated to inform future brides/cake buyers of their potential experience if they choose to go with Dream Bakery. I could not have been more disappointed with the lack of professionalism I received after spending $600 on what I expected to be a beautiful wedding cake. I would urge anyone considering an Austin bakery to go somewhere else.



I put much thought into what it wanted in a wedding cake and gave specific pictures and examples of the design I liked which Azar-one of the cake ladies, agreed to. I did not spend much else on wedding decor because this cake would be the one thing I splurged on. The cake I asked for and the cake delivered were completely different! I had designed a classy, elegant gray and white cake with monogramming and fondant pearls going around the tiers and to my surprise was given a cake that was a completely different color, resembling a silver sharpie. The cake sat crooked (they blamed it on the cake stand, however I leveled the stand myself and it was straight) and had uneven sized pearls going uneven round the tiers. It looked cheap, and because of their choice to change my design, it did not go with the theme of my wedding. The cake was sadly an embarrassment to my husband and I. It ruined some of my professional wedding pictures and I honestly wish I could have hid the cake during our reception.



After informing the bakery of our disappointment, I received excuses, denial, and not so much as an apology for their lack of care for my special day. After much grief, and many phone calls, we ended up with not even a 13% refund for the cake. The cake didn't look like it could even cost that much :(



Trust me, you will want to go somewhere else!

On the way to our wedding reception, my husband said, "Most wedding cakes are dry." I assured him that it would not be dry and I was not wrong. The caterer even commented that it was the moistest cake she had ever had. We had the Red Velvet with cream cheese filling and buttercream frosting. Not only was the cake beautiful, it was delicious and was even good a week after the reception.



Two weeks later, for a friend's 50th and my daughter's 15th birthdays, I brought in a picture of two jackets from the movie "Grease" (google 50s birthday cakes if they don't post the picture on their site) and asked them to replicate the cake in the picture. The cake was amazing! It was even better than the picture and received so many compliments. Once again, the red velvet with cream cheese was to die for and the other half, chocolate with chocolate mousse was fabulous!



What makes all of this so fantastic is that the staff is friendly, helpful, and a pleasure to work with. I will be using them again in the future!

They did a baby shower cake for my sister and it was beautiful! Not to mention absolutely delicious! Everyone at the party kept talking about how great it was and asking where it was from. I'm very grateful since I had to do most of this on the phone, I live out of Texas. They did such a fantastic job and the owner was very friendly. The cake looked gorgeous and tasted even better. Everyone will remember it for years to come! I even sent them a email thanking them because it turned out so great :D

On a whim my aunt stopped by there for a last minute birthday cake, And i am so glad she did. She purchased a chocolate moose filled cake with chocolate frosting. It is by far the most amazing cake i have ever tasted. And to think i used to just grab a quick HEB cake when i was headed to a party. Never again will i go anywhere but here for all my pastry needs.

My wife and I moved to Austin a few years back. We were concerned that we might not be able to find a good pastry store in this area since Texas is not known for pastries. I was also worried that I might have to compromise on pre-packaged Persian sweet since I did not think we could find anything fresh in the area. To our surprise, Dream Bakery has been fantastic! We love the Pastries, Cookies, Cakes and Persian Ice cream. I even buy the home made relish she offers and have not been disappointed. The store owners are also very nice people so I usually spend a few minutes chatting it up with them. I highly recommend this bakery.

We had been shopping for wedding cakes since 2006 for our family events. We visited very well known places and tasted some fancy cakes...fancy is all I can say! Not much of taste and loaded with lots of sugar. Until, we came to Dream Bakery and met with Azar and her staff. Since then, we never left her store. It was not easy to make a decision...we changed our minds over and over! Azar, NEVER gave us a hard time or made us feel bad for taking so much of her time. Anyhow, we get all our cakes for any small or large occasion from Dream Bakery...try yellow cake with Pineapple and whipped cream frosting...guests practically lick their plates! Thank you Azar, for making our events memorable!

I bought my son and daughter's wedding, engagement cakes from them. Not only they were beautiful...they were so fresh and delicious that every guest complemented our choice and wanted to know who made the cakes. Homemade, fresh and delicious! Price is great for all the custom decorations, too! The picture you see is my daughter's wedding cake...beautiful!

We contacted Mrs. Azar Owilia the owner of the place back in June 2008 to make our wedding cake for October 25th. When we went in we tasted two different types of mousse that we were considering for our cake. We decided to go with the lemon curd but based off HER recommendation we would do one strawberry for other guests and the bottom and top tier lemon for ourselves. When the wedding got closer and they should have began to make my cake, I realized they didn't write down anything about what my cake was suppose to look like, and if I hadn't gone in to show them they probably wouldn't have asked.



On my wedding day you always expect something to go wrong, but you hope its not the cake... mine was!!! The cake bread was stale and to my suprise EVERY SINGLE TIER was STRAWBERRY!!!! I didnt even like the strawberry. When we went in to discuss this with Azar she acted like it was no big deal. After discussing it further she said that she would make us another top tier so I could finally have the piece that I never got on my wedding day, and upon doing so she asked if we wanted decorations on the top of the cake like at the wedding... I said "no you don't have to go through that trouble, just around the cake" and guess what? When we went to pick it up today there was no decorations at all, just a puney little top tier, plain white! When my husband told her it was wrong, she started yelling at him. Not much of a professional I presume, hopefully this one isn't stale!!





DONT GO TO AZAR AT DREAM BAKERY!!!!



on the plus note, the first time she under charged me $70 that I tried to point out 3 times, but they said I was wrong, and we got back $50 the day after my wedding!! So suck for them too I suppose!
