After taking my tree braids down I wanted my hair to be BONE STRAIGHT and Vicki made sure it was. Also sitting under the steamer with my conditioner was great! It felt like I got a facial too from all the steam. Really nice. The whole experience was very relaxing. I am going back again tomorrow. Thanks Vicki

My Master Stylist is Vicki Pouncie, the owner. When I say that I leave sexy and satisfied I mean it! My hair exudes healthiness, style and sophistication following every visit.

One thing a woman should always have on speed dial is her stylist but a fabulous one. I'm blessed to have that in Vicki. She listens, probes and executes excellence every time!

Awful!

I recently made an appointment at the nubiance salon, I'm from out of town and i saw some ok reviews so i wanted to check it out..I go to the salon and my stylist is toni, from start to finish she was extremely rough with my hair and wound up burning my scalp..Mind you the whole time i try to pretend I'm happy and be mateur and not make a scene because of it..So i call the salon a few days later to make a complaint to the manager but tells me that i can't get a refund and instead she'll give me 20% off if i came back..I explained to her that i was from out of town and that most likely won't be back, not that i ever intended on going back in the first place..She agreed to send me a product instead, a few hours later i get a call back from her and she tells me that she spoke with toni the stylist that did my hair and some of the other stylists there, and also reviewed some video footage from that day..So she pretty much tells me that she didn't see at any point that i was uncomfortable and that she's been in business foe years and blah blah blah, mind you never had to call a salon before to make a complaint..And just because i didn't want a confrontation or to blow up on my stylist in no way means i was comfortable, but oh i guess she was feeling what i was right..On top of that still left with a burn on my head and she didn't say anything about still sending me any product..After all that, wow i will never go there again..So be careful, especially for you newcomers..I sure as hell learned my lesson..

Beware

September 30, 2008

I scheduled an appointment at Nubiance Salon & Spa in Atlanta, Georgia with Mikki Domineck on August 12, 2008 at 1pm to get a relaxer. Upon arrival, I went in the back to have my hair based. Mikki then proceeded to put the Affirm relaxer in my hair. She followed the usual steps of working the relaxer in, shampooing extra. I noticed while I sat with the relaxer in my hair that my scalp wasn’t burning. This was new because normally I am rushing my stylist through the working in process. I just brushed it off as me having done a great job at not scratching my hair.

After I sat under the dryer for a few minutes, Mikki called me to her chair and blow-dried my hair. As Mikki went through my hair with the beveled irons, I noticed that she was going through my hair fairly quickly so I looked up to see what she was doing. She told me she was just going through it to straighten it. At the moment, I didn’t think anything of this. This was my third time coming to this salon so I trusted that Mikki knew what she was doing. Mikki curled my hair; I glanced in the mirror and liked what I saw, and paid and left the salon.

Less than an hour later, I went to a friend’s house and I rubbed my fingers through my hair. I was amazed at how thick my roots were since I had just gotten a perm. I then thought about my experience at the salon. I now knew why Mikki had to go through my hair and straighten it and I knew why my hair wasn’t burning. Mikki had to have used an old perm on my hair, which was why it did not take or burn. I recalled from when she was looking for the perm that she had to ask the gentleman who was standing in front of the cabinet where the perms are usually stored to look in the bottom cabinet to get the perm (normally she would get the perm from the top cabinet). Also, the perm she used on my hair was the last bit of perm in the bucket because she was scrubbing the container to get the remainder of the perm.

Once I realized this, I called Mikki to speak to her regarding the perm not taking. I asked her why she did not tell me before I left that the perm did not take and I asked her about the old perm. She stated that at the time she didn’t know that that was what had happened. She also stated that the perm was not old and that it was a mild perm (for the record, I have had a mild perm in the past at a different salon, and it still burned and the perm took. That perm was old which is why it did not take or burn.). She went on to tell me that I could come back and she would redo the perm. I told her that I was coming back because I wanted a refund and I did not trust her to do my hair any longer (not to mention I would be on fire if she put another perm in my hair the same day).

When I got back to the salon, I asked to speak to the owner (Vicki Pouncie). I explained what happened. Vicki agreed that the perm didn’t take. I then asked her to refund my money back since I did not get the service I requested (or product if you go with Mikki’s mild perm side of the story) and I asked her what steps was she going to make to ensure that this didn’t happen again. Vicki stated that she would not give me a full refund and that she would just charge me for a shampoo and trim (I also had my hair trimmed). She added that I could come back at a later date and get a relaxer and she wouldn’t charge me. I explained that I was willing to pay for the cut but not for the shampoo because I would not have come to the salon to have my hair shampooed. I shampoo my hair myself and I only go to the salon for treatments and relaxers. Anyhow, we argued and called the cops and I had to pay for the shampoo and cut.

I am not reporting this because of the amount I was charged. I am reporting this because this salon lacks policy’s (and not to mention integrity) to ensure that they are using chemicals correctly.
