We just sold our house and are getting ready to embark on an epic RV journey across the country. We needed a place to get everything settled before leaving and Taps was very conveniently located near the VA (my Pops is a Veteran, so it's easy for him to stop by and see us here when he goes there). There is also plenty of shopping of all sorts nearby. We have now been here going on 3 weeks. Immediately, we noticed how very quiet and peaceful it is here! What a delight after the stress of selling a house. The neighbors have been friendly and charming. The owner, Bill, is the epitome of traditional southern hospitality. Agreeable, helpful, wonderful!
I discovered this morning that he is also a Veteran, which is important to me (I was born an Army brat on a base in Germany).

There are delightful river views here. There are horses and cattle pastured across the river, providing a very relaxing view from your "back yard" if you choose a site on that row.
Everything is in good, working order (which, if you have visited many small parks around the country, you'll know is a very nice thing!).
There are pull-through sites for bigger rigs, although even the back-in sites will accommodate a rather large rig (mine is a 37 foot fifth wheel).
This place is clean as can be. I have yet to see any litter.
There is a nice mix of long term tenants and "just passing through" travelers.

There are trains that go by on the far side of the river, so if that might disturb you, a site further from the river side might be a better option.
(My grandson adores trains, so it's a perk that he can watch them in any weather from our back window).

We love this place. This will be our Asheville stop anytime we come through.
You might find parks with more nature and more amenities, but you will not find a single one with better management and peace.

I stayed here about a year ago and I'm considering a return. It's true about the train but this is a rest stop right off I-40 and close to all the attractions in Asheville. Cable was good but Asheville has a lot more to offer. The owner was very nice and his son, I believe, helped me find the tennis courts in downtown Asheville. I was alone and this rv campground was just what I needed. I was too tired after a long drive and 3 full days of tennis to worry about the owner keeping it quiet. In fact I appreciate the quiet.

Good Management

We stayed at Taps Campground for three months while we searched for a home in the Asheville area. We couldn't have asked for a safer place, minutes to all major attractions, clean and well maintained. Plus, helpful, knowlegable manager of Bill and family were available to answer questions and take care of problems.

My wife and two dogs were very fortunate to have stayed at Taps.

Our thanks goes to Bill and his family run business

This is not a campground. It is a concrete parking lot for rvs. No trees no Fire pits. about 5 feet of space between campers. they are very proud of there cable, if you want to set in your rv and watch tv you'll love it. don't camp there in a tent or pop up because it is located between a go cart track and train tracks. and the owner walks around like barney fife enforcing the rules ( no talking after dark ). absolutely the worst camping experience of my life.
