Vaccination
For the safety of all animals in our care, we require that all vaccinations be up to date. Even though we make every effort to make our patients feel comfortable during visits, they may be a little uneasy about new people, new surroundings and other pets. Pharmacy: We maintain a complete inventory of pharmaceuticals, vitamins, shampoos, flea and tick control products and heartworm preventatives to meet the needs of your pet. We also carry a full line of prescription diets.

We offer three levels of in-house blood testing before surgery, which we will go over with you when you bring your pet in. Our doctors prefer the more comprehensive screen, because it gives them the most information to ensure the safety of your pet. For geriatric or ill pets, additional blood tests, electrocardiograms, or x-rays may be required before surgery as well.

Ward personnel are responsible for animal handling, bathing and grooming, cleaning, feeding, laundry, waste disposal, and running lab work.

Exotic Animal Vet
Dr. Lee Bolt, graduated from the University of Idaho and Washington State University College of Veterinary Medicine. He served in the Idaho National Guard and the U.S. Army, performing infectious disease research. He been a small animal and exotic animal veterinarian practicing in Asheville since 1992. Dr. Bolt also is dedicated to wildlife and zoological animal medicine and surgery. This has included positions as attending veterinarian at the Grandfather Mountain Stewardship Foundation, the Blue Ridge Wildlife Institute at Lee's-McCrae College (May Wildlife Center), and the Western North Carolina Nature Center. Doctor Bolt was head veterinarian for the Norman Vaughan - 1925 Serum Run, sled dog expedition; (A memorial tribute, tracing through the heart of Alaska. See links). He serves on the boards of several non-profit organizations, is a published author and retired drummer in the Band "F.U.O."; Fever of Unknown Origin.
