Business History
Dr. Laurel started her practice as Asheville Veterinary House Calls in 1996 with the primary goal of offering gentle conventional and holistic veterinary care and examining each animal companion in their home environment. Her growing interest in holistic medicine inspired her to attend courses in Clinical Kinesiology, Craniosacral Therapy, NAET allergy elimination technique, chiropractic care and acupuncture. She also discovered in herself something beyond her training and experience as a licensed and qualified veterinarian. Her intuitive connection with the companion animals she treated grew and matured, and her practice evolved to include Ask Dr. Laurel™ phone or Skype sessions. In 2003, she opened her office, Sunvet Animal Wellness Clinic, so she could devote more time to being with each animal, acknowledging their individual needs and their connectedness to their human family. Dr. Laurel Davis also offers phone and Skype sessions for people outside of the Asheville a

Overall

We're so glad we have Dr. Laurel Davis and Sunvet! We are holistically oriented, and we appreciate her preventative and natural approach whenever possible. And she really listens to our animals in a way that other vets do not. Instead of just providing standard, cookie-cutter solutions for their problems, she tunes into their specific needs. Over the years of having her help our dogs and cats through many issues and ailments, we've grown really to trust her intuition and experience. Highly recommended, both for Asheville-area people and her phone sessions for other areas.

I had Dr. Davis come to my house to euthanize my cat. It was definitely her time, maybe even past her time, and the doctor was very gentle and sweet with her, and with us. My cat hated going to the vet more than anything, and I did not want her last breath to occur in her least favorite place on Earth. Instead I was able to sit with her and pet her while she went to sleep on her favorite chair. It was heartbreaking and I still miss her every day. At the time, I was very happy with the entire staff.

My only issue has been with billing. They do not take Discover, which was how I was planning to pay. Long story short, they did not charge my debit card on the date we agreed on, but waited until two weeks later and then told me my card was declined. I am a business owner, and I understand the frustration of outstanding invoices. But I also respect my clients, and I charge them on the exact date they expect. I've implemented payment policies and automated services which minimize or eliminate any payment issues. It's not difficult or expensive.

Much of the payment issue has been my own fault, and they've been patient and kind.

But given the service for which I'm paying -- euthanizing my best friend and companion of 13.5 years -- it would be nice if they were a little more on top of it from the beginning.

I would definitely recommend Dr. Davis to someone with a finicky pet, especially if you prefer to be right by his/her side while they pass. I would just make sure you take care of payment in full and as soon as possible, so that when your pet is gone, all you have to worry about is grieving and healing.

Dr. Davis is a warm, compassionate veterinarian. Her gift of animal communication, along with the alternative treatment modalities she uses, make her an awesome practitioner. In response to the previous review, she believes fully in the information she receives and is not afraid to share it, even if it is painful to hear. Her goal is the most appropriate care for our animals, and to honor their wishes.

She has treated our Shih Tzu with NAET (Nambutdripad Allergy elimination treatment), which has been an amazing transformation as she was allergic to many, many things. She also helped us to know when our Lhasa was ready to pass back to Spirit and she came to our home so he could pass at home, surrounded by family, not in a strange place. For that gift, I cannot thank her enough.

She is a delightful lady and and a dear soul. We will always be patients in her practice.

Dr. Davis is a beautiful soul ...

Dr Davis is a beautiful soul and I would recommend her to anyone who believes that animals are an emotional and conscious part of this world in which we live.

I called upon Dr. Davis to assist me at the end of my boy's life. He was a 14-yr Collie mix who reached the point of being unable to walk. When the dreaded yet necessary day came, I called her office in the morning and she fit us into her schedule that very day - and she came to us. We were able to handle the event in the comfort and loving surroundings of our own home. I am eternally grateful for this.

Besides the logistics, however, Dr. Davis has a very special, conscious connection to animals and it gives her the ability to really communicate with a loved one at the most crucial moment, thereby making it just a bit more OK for everyone involved.

Her demeanor and presence are calming, loving and sincere. I only wish I had met her sooner.

Thank you Dr. Davis, you are wonderful.

Cynthia-

P.S. the ladies who answer the phone in her office are very sweet.
