BracesChoosing to straighten your teeth is a big decision that affects your appearance and lifestyle. Adults may want to improve their smiles for business or social reasons, but don’t want the wires and hassle of traditional braces. Teenagers are usually looking for a solution that won’t impact their social status or physical look.
OrthodonticsThis classic cosmetic technique continues to produce beautiful smiles with long lasting results. It typically requires some work to remove older restorations, weak tooth structure, and really dark tooth structure that cannot be bleached or covered with the prepless veneer technique. We can correct major defects and straighten the look of the teeth for patients that do not want to pursue orthodontics.
Invisalign OrthodonticsInvisalign® and Invisalign Teen® provides a simple way to straighten your teeth without a mouthful of hardware or having to put your life on hold.
Dental ImplantsWe extract both adult and baby teeth and most erupted wisdom teeth. If you have a missing tooth, we can also replace it surgically using dental implants.
BridgesThe Astra Tech Implant System is versatile; it can be used to replace one tooth or used in multiple sites to support a dental bridge. It also supports full dentures and partial dentures, and attachments are interchangeable.
VeneersVeneers are thin porcelain shells that that cover the front part of your natural tooth. They can cosmetically correct discolored teeth, chipped or worn teeth, and in some cases make crooked teeth look straight. In most cases, our new technology can make the veneers so thin that no cutting or shaving of the tooth is required. For some cases we must remove old dental work and weak tooth structure to properly place the veneer and get the best cosmetic result
CrownsOne of the latest dental technological advancements to appear in dentistry today is CEREC®. The CEREC® machine is a special computer that acts as a dental restoration tool, allowing us to restore decayed teeth, remove defective amalgam dental fillings, and repair fractured teeth by placing porcelain dental crowns, inlays or onlays in just one appointment.
Root Canal TreatmentIf you have ever had an infection in a tooth, you know how painful it can be. A root canal treatment is a process of removing an infection in the nerve of the tooth. Before root canal treatments, the only option for a patient with an infected nerve in a tooth was to remove it—fortunately we no longer have to do that!
DenturesToo many people are unhappy with their existing dentures—sometimes the dentures don’t look natural; they slip, and make eating difficult. You deserve a custom fit and the most natural look you can get, and that’s exactly why we offer custom full and partial dentures as an affordable way to replace multiple missing teeth.
OverdenturesNeed a way to stabilize an ill-fitting denture? We offer our patients the Locator™ mini-Implant Overdenture System Four of these mini-implants are available at a fraction of the cost of a standard implant. For patients who only need denture stability, this is a great affordable option.
Tooth WhiteningWe recommend any toothpaste with fluoride. We always caution about using whitening or tartar control toothpastes due to abrasiveness which can cause sensitivity. Fluoride is the most important ingredient that cannot be absent when selecting a toothpaste.
General DentistryAfter graduation, Dr. Hayes joined the Air Force and was stationed in the United Kingdom, Texas, Florida, and California. Some of her accomplishments include serving as chief of general dentistry, dental public health officer, and as a member of the forensic dental team. She earned several meritorious service and commendation medals during her 10 year tenure with the Air Force.
Teeth CleaningThis question will vary patient to patient. If you have a minimal history of decay/fillings, we usually recommend every 6 months. Patients with gum disease or with a high decay/plaque rate should come more frequently, either every 3 or 4 months depending on the severity of the disease. Many studies show a strong correlation between dental cleanings and prevention of heart disease and stroke.
Dental SealantsDeep grooves in teeth are frequently hard to keep clean and all too easy to decay. If you have this condition, ask about our preventative sealant restoration. This process seals the grooves, enhancing the way the tooth looks and preventing further decay.
Dental ExaminationRadiographs are essential tools to identify decay and other dental problems that the naked eye cannot see. Accurate clinical diagnosis and treatment cannot be safely provided without current radiographs. New patients often have current radiographs from their previous dentist. We gladly accept those records to be used for the comprehensive exam instead of taking new ones and the fee is adjusted accordingly.
Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery
Oral SurgeryWhen you need oral surgery, you want the most skilled and experienced dentists you can find. You don’t want to suffer during the process, and you expect a quick recovery. We couldn’t agree more—we’ve performed thousands of oral surgeries for many different conditions. Our primary goal is to perform the surgery gently and thoroughly so you can heal quickly and get back to your life.
Gum SurgeryThe SIROLaser™ tissue laser is the tool we use for minor gum surgery. Using the laser eliminates placement of stitches after surgery. The laser also means less discomfort and provides more rapid healing than traditional techniques.
Periodontal SurgeryMouthwash is not a replacement for flossing and brushing. Instead, it serves as a complement to your daily dental hygiene. Your Asheville dentist can tell you which kind of mouthwash is best for your needs. You can use a mouthwash before or after brushing. It’s ideal for removing debris in your mouth at any time. Prescription mouthwash with stronger agents is available and may be more effective if you’ve had periodontal surgery. Ask us about it during your next visit.
