Service Department at Dewey Ford

I rarely submit reviews unless the product or service I purchased was great. The purchase of a 2015 Escape Titanium on 1/12/2015 surpassed great - my wife & I rate our experience with Dewey Ford as exceptional. From our initial contact with salesman Steve Sexton [he was actually standing out in the car lot on a freezing cold day with a pretty stiff breeze to boot - that's dedication!], and all the way thru the negotiation with business manager Steve Westbrook, the buying process was painless. I love dealing with a business that is no nonsense and doesn't play games over trade in values. I was played by 3 other Ford/Mazda dealerships in and around Des Moines, and quite honestly expected the same with Dewey. The opposite happened here: Mr. Westbrook accepted our trade in at the requested price, and the rest of the transaction was equally positive - we did the paperwork and were trained on all of the features the Escape had to offer in a little over an hour. I was traveling through Des Moines when my air conditioner went out in my '99 Lincoln. I pulled off the freeway in Ankeny and miraculously found Dewey Ford. The service agent was able to prioritize my repair and within 2 hours the a/c specialist mechanic had the new a/c installed. Worth a 5-star rating. Now for the -4 star rating. The service agent estimated the repair at $1,200.00 to which I agreed to. The estimate include 1.0 hour of labor to analyze the problem, 2.9 hours to install the new compressor, etc., and 1.4 hours to evacuate and replace the Freon. Now my math says the total labor was estimated to be 5.3 hours. Guess what, the actual bill was $1,199.34, just $0.67 under the estimate. Coincidence, not likely. The actual labor charged was 2-1/2 times the actual 2 hour time. Coincidence, no. It's exactly what their "book" says it should be. Is their book of standard repair times accurate? Obviously not. Is the dealer justified charging 2-1/2 times the actual time? No, that's price gouging. Would I ever go back? Not in my lifetime. Would I recommend you going there? Not in your lifetime.

The finance guy ripped me off. I declined all the extras yet he squeaked in $799 worth and said the higher monthly was because of tax title and license. General manager refunded me that money plus tax but having a HORRIBLE experience with the service department now. They tell me "something happened to my car" but not specifically what it is and they have had it for four days just to replace the wheels. Awful experience.

I keep taking my truck in. I keep paying 300 - 400.00 and the problem keeps coming back. Not to mention the time I sit around because of no free rentals. Whats the issue? Me taking the vehicle there. I recommend taking your vehicle to a smaller hometown dealer that wont take you money.

You can get cash for your car at Dewey Ford. Even if youre not going to buy a car you can still sell them yours! They have many car services available I think you should check them out soon.

Not a bad place to buy a car. I thought I wasn't going to get a car. I started a new job and am starting to catch up on my bills and decided to buy a more reliable car than I was driving. I didn't want to lose my new job after being unemployed for a while because of an unreliable car. I went to dewey ford and found a car I really liked, got a good price, got financing and didn't get slammed with a lot of silly fees either. And the car I am driving now, thanks to dewey ford is very reliable. Just wanted to say thanks.
