General Info

Trend Setters first opened its doors in June of 1972. Dennis and Connie Millhouse made their dream a reality with the best beauty school in Alaska. 39 years later, Trend Setters is still a family owned and operated business. Trend Setters has two professional salons as well, one in the Dimond Center and the other in Eagle River. There has been more top hairstylists graduate from Trend Setters than from anywhere else in Alaska. Trend Setters is an unusual school with no comparison in instruction. We are the only school in the nation to three times win School of The Year honors from KMS Research as well as other local awards. We have trained more top professionals than any other school in Alaska. Our 13,000 sq. ft. facility includes a beauty salon, which serves the general public, and several classrooms. Here students find instruction ranging from theory to practical application techniques.

  • Yep, what she said.

I wanted to leave the moment I was given attitude by one of the hairstylists for simply asking a question to what they were specifically doing to my hair. I mean I'm paying 120 bucks.. I think I have the right to know where they are putting color in my hair. Overpriced for a beauty school and they avoid conversation whatsoever. No such thing as "customer friendly" here. My stylist rushed the whole time and didn't color my ends completely. Thanks lady!

  • Trend Setter School of Beauty Don't Do IT

I went to get my highlights and low lights roots done and they messed up my hair so bad. The beach was left on too long and some of the color spotted my highlighted part. The bleached or highlighted part looks orange in some parts and white in others and there's no rhythm or reason too the pattern they used. Its a mess and I look like a cheetah. Not a cute cheetah more like one that's been abused. The instructor didn't charge me and set me up to get it fixed by another student but I'm going to a real salon to fix it. I'm not willing to play Russian roulette with my hair anymore. If your trying to save a buck just go to a real salon. Trend S wanted to charge me just as much as a salon quoted me to try to fix this mess. I plead with you don't you for highlights or color!

  • Good place if you tell them what you want.

I've gone several times and have been satisfied with each. I'm a guy, btw.

  • great place to get horrible cut

don't ever consider cut your hair over there eventhough it's cheap. Your hair worth a lot more than that. The stylist decide everything. I had long hair almost touch my waist, they cut it above my shoulder with reason my hair is not healthy. \r And now i stuck with this horrible haircut
