I was only interested in a place to lay my head--real reason to be in Anchorage is for sightseeing etc The place was very basic but clean. Bed comfortable. The hotel is in an industrial/commercial area, but didn't seem unsafe. Hotel staff was not always knowledgeable, but tried to be helpful For the price I got what I was expecting--as everything else in area was twice the cost here.

This hotel has a great deal of uniqueness and charm. The rates are very reasonable, the rooms comfortable, and the staff professional and friendly. The combo of price and other factors makes this a great value. It is also centrally located.

I was extremely happy with the Russian Delicatessenbad cross the street.

The hotel itself has a very artsy and eclectic feel to it. If you are tired of cookie cutter hotel chains, and want something different and special, this could be the place for you. It was for me.

I reserved a room here for one week as part of an Expedia deal that was very well priced. I was surprised at what an excellent rate they were asking for. When I arrived, I was pleasantly surprised to find a beauty working the front desk. She was polite, knowledgeable, and quick to get everything in order so I could check in. I arrived very late after a long flight, and was relieved to be able to check in after midnight. There was soothing French or Russian music playing when I arrived, and the hostess was speaking Serbian. Her accent and the way she presented herself really made me smile. She showed me to my room and was always available when I needed something from the office. I was even offered a box of cookies and taught how to say a word or two in her language. This inn is in a perfect central location, within walking distance of many eateries, and has allowed me the peace and quiet I needed to launch many expeditions across this state. I've also made excellent progress on the series of novels I am writing. Hat's off to these people! I will definitely return. The lobby has very cool furniture and wall art, too, by the way.

From the time I entered to check in I felt this place had a very homey welcoming feel. The hotel attendant at the desk made me feel very welcomed. So much so that she actually got me money back for my reservation. She even was nice enough to upgrade my room... Def went above and beyond!
*** The one big thing that people who stay here complain about is the serious no drinking/no alcohol rule. As someone who drinks socially I can Def respect the owners wishes, and as an anchorage resident I understand why the rule is there. Alcohol causes bad things here! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE give this place a shot! It's very reasonably priced and very unique. I would Def stay here again!

Decent sized room if all you wanna do is a place to rest your head between adventures. Free simple DIY breakfast, and the staff is helpful. Only thing is that the carpet in our room wasn't all that clean, and I like going barefoot in my room. Word of advice—wear shoes/slippers when in your room.

Overall, a nice place to stay.

It was a great experience, from the moment we walked in along with friendly helpful staff. Cozy rooms with a balcony, and free wifi. Breakfast is included as well. Make sure to ask about the hidden European shower! Bathrooms were stocked and cleaned as well.

This Bohemian-styled hostel and motel is loaded with character and stories. The name, meaning ten legged polar bear, refers to a Native American oral tradition, echoed in the large angled log pillars propping up the front of the building. The establishment features individual self-contained units, as well as dormitory or pod-style accommodation with a shared bathroom. There is also a common dining area, a common fridge to store your perishables, and in the summer season a wholesome cooked breakfast is included in the quite modest price. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the rooms are clean and tastefully, although idiosyncratically furnished. One feature that stands out is the opportunity to meet other guests in the common area, usually an eclectic mix of intrepid or budget travellers whose stories provide much better entertainment than the TV provided in each room. I would highly recommend this establishment to travellers wishing to mix with fellow travellers as well as real Alaskans.

This place was just what we needed. Great price, a nice comfortable room, clean hot shower, convienent location. Easy to get to from airport and downtown area. The back patio was a great place to sit and enjoy a beer at the end of the day as we talked to some of the other guests. The kitchen and common areas were also welcoming. The owner's customer service skills are definitely lacking but it didn't tarnish our experience.

Very unique. The lobby has some very comfy MIB white egg chairs that are super fun to sit in. There was coffee in the morning & fruit & cereal for breakfast, small kitchen area for guests to use to cook by the lobby dining table. Our room was really comfy & clean. The bed was a nice big queen with a country style comforter. We also had a nice table with 2 chairs, a dresser that had open storage space on one side & a beautiful sink & mirror well lit right outside the shower & toilet room, unstated! Thank you Jennifer for a beautiful comfy weekend.

Greatest kept secret hotel!

The craftsmanship and design of this unique and homey establishment make it inviting and fun. I enjoyed my stay here and must say that Jennifer and Desiree make great hostess . They were helpful and made me really want to stay even though I only wanted a few nights. My room was amazing and nice and cozy . There is wifi through out the building and even cable which was impressive sense it is a small private hotel and that is what really transformed my idea , why do we stay at fancy hotels that always look the same? I think I will stay at more private owned unique hotels like Qupqugiaq Inn from now on! It cost me $12 to take a taxi from the hotel to the airport but it was worth it. Also there is a Mexican restaurant downstairs in the same building with really good tamales . It was a bit cold outside but I walked down the street and found a beautiful library with a small park adjoined to it and to a nice walk.
