This kennel is disgusting. They have been shut down before, and need to be shut down permanently. We adopted a dog through aarf, immediately it was obvious he was emaciated (we have pictures) and within 24 hours he was battling kennel cough. He ate so fast the first few days he almost choked a few times, and he was severely dehydrated. The dog is three years old, and is not housebroken (we were told he was by aarf, as well as kennel trained) and if we put him in a kennel he literally beats himself bloody.
In short, aarf was rude, and lied to us, as well as adopted out an unhealthy, emaciated dog. These people should not be responsible for animals.

Gross, overcrowded

It's like an episode of Hoarders. See for yourself :(
If I could've given zero stars I would have.

I've been complaining for years about the deplorable conditions of both the facility, the animals in the facility, and Bev's lack of responsibility and customer service. I've never met a more disgusting individual, her business is definitely a reflection on herself.

If you love your animals, you won't even consider sending them to Coshoks. I've witnessed far too many dogs enter healthy and leave in poor physical condition. Animal abuse shouldn't be taken lightly.

The people who volunteer at coshoks keep this place going ! Yes the building is older than time itself be needs updates but there is a lot behind the scenes that people don't see happening. The building has exciting plans in the future ! The people who work there only have respect for dogs and you can see that by sheer fact that aarf takes in dogs that others turn a cheek too. Aarf saves tons of dogs and gets them into nice homes. Aarf pulls dogs from out of state and takes them from high kill shelters. Dogs are taken on daily walks and fed properly. Aarf can use all the volunteers that they can get ! Come on down and help out the pups :)

Horrible

Undeserving of any stars. I've been there twice now. The first time was during an adoption day they have most Saturdays. I couldn't even get passed the front door, it was like being hit with a wall of moist, warm air reeking of urine and feces. Second time, today, I made it to the front desk which had a swarm of flies in the center of the room. I had to smile to suppress my gag reflex. Again, it was moist warm air, reeked of urine and feces. I don't even think they clean this place properly. I wouldn't be surprised if dogs that stay here are all sick. I looked into windows to other rooms full of dogs, laying on cement floors without food and water. They were all barking like crazy, a really stressful environment for any dog you leave there. It was a disgusting, depressing and horrible place. I don't know why any dog lover would leave their dog with this place. It needs to be shut down.

I went to this kennel with the intent of touring it before I actually used them. My dogs are like children and I want to know they are in a safe place when kenneled. I was only allowed to see a small part of the kennel which was near the entrance. There was swarms of flies along with an adoption clinic going that day. The adoptable pets were kept in the same area as the kenneled pets, and all the animals and people and noise in such a small area was causing a lot of stress on the kenneled dogs. None of them had either food or water in their kennels. The place reaked of urine, more than anything I have ever encountered at any kennel. It was so much in fact that I had trouble breathing and my eyes swelled. Of course no one helped me or showed any concern however my husband was able to direct me outside once he was able to cram througb the crowd to get to me. Needless to say I never used this place as I would never leave my dog in such deplorable conditions.

The kennel may not be the best but they are a far cry from disgusting and in need of being shut down. They have never been shut down by animal control so don't know what you are talking about there! As far as a smell...Well...you are walking into a DOG KENNEL. Is it really supposed to smell like roses? If you walk through the kennel (with staff ofcourse) it is clean and well maintained. I have been through there so yes, I have seen it! Coshoks is different from AARF. If you have a problem with a rescue showing there than leave it to the rescue. Contact them. As far as a sick or skinny dog, well, they get dogs in from all over and often they are sick or skinny and in need of some major help. Think on that. They get medical attention for any dog in there care work hard to change any behavioral issues. I think both Coshoks and AARF ROCK...

This place takes in all kinds of dogs, even the ones that have no other place to turn to. The main gal, Bev, has a heart of gold and tries to find homes for dogs that would be put down otherwise. When you have 50+ orphaned dogs to care for, it is hard to keep up. They do the best they can with the resources they have. I adopted a dog from them and he has been the best addition to our family. He lived there for 6 months before we adopted him. He came to us as a healthy adult dog and I was so glad they didn't give up on him, as a husky mix that this state has a lot of. I still bring him there for grooming on occasion and I would board him there without reservation. I know the people there have a true love for dogs and animals of all kinds and are truly concerned for their welfare. God Bless them.

Stay away! Not sanitary!!

We adopted a dog over the weekend through aarf and told we could pick her up here on Tuesday, as soon as we got out of the car in the barely existent parking lot, the smell of animal feces slapped us in the face. When we walked inside we were welcomed by a 100 flies and an the most horrible smells you could imagine, I feel sorry for any animal that is forced to stay here! I would never bring my dogs here for anything! Read the rest of the reviews to confirm the unsanitary conditions and poor service this place provides!! They need to be shut down.

I left my dog there for a coup...

I left my dog there for a couple of days while my house was being fixed. The kid that was there was nice. When you walked in the smell of cat urine about knocks you to your knees. they have some of the cat just roaming around the reception area. I dont think that is very good but at the same time im very allergic to cats. when I tried to call to check on my dog no one would answer. When I went and picked up my dog he smelt like urine and he had the runs really bad and it was on his chest. before i realized thats what it was i asked the kid what it could be and he said it was yellow snow. REALLY LAME EXCUSE.... Later on I called to see if they fed my dog any treats or any of that and the girl up at the counter said she didnt know. she didnt even ask. shes pregnant and shouldnt be in that environment either. I wont leave my dog (my family members) to be treated that way again. I'd rather have my dog live in my car for days. When a kennel has low standards it really shows in the care for animals and the customer service that is provided. Personally I think they should higher standards and really learn to care for the animals and have better custoemr service or just close the doors for good. The funny thing is I really should have read the reveiws before I took my dog over there, but I spoke with a friend of mine and he really stuck his neck out for this place trying to get the business back inthere and when I told him about my expierance and showed him the pictures of my dog he even appologized to me.

This place is AWFUL! The owner lady was so rude when we picked up our dogs. Both dogs had kennel cough and one had a really bad UTI. Almost all of our food was returned and both dogs had lost quite a bit of weight. We provided full, new bags of treats and they were returned unopened. DO NOT GO HERE!!! THIS PLACE SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN!

Poor Care

I boarded my two dogs at this kennel and the woman that works there has a bad attitude. My dogs were not cared for they were left in urine and my larger dog was injured. I would not recommend any one to leave their pet at this place. My dogs have been exhausted and hungry I don't know if they were even fed. They were given no treats and received no positive human contact. If you are a caring pet owner look else where do not board your pet at this place.
