Overall
Interesting but not sure it's worth the $20.00 you pay

For the $20.00 per person you pay it’s ok but not great and if you are paying for more than two people I would not spend the money. My husband and I went in late October and the views were good but not spectacular. The weather was nice which made the time on the top good but the ride up and back is so much better than the views from the top. The one positive thing I can say is that it does give you a better perspective of how large this mountain is.

Overall
Check the weather first!

We took the Sandia Peak Tram in March, expecting moderate weather and spectacular views from the top. We should have checked the weather reports ahead of time. Although the climate at the base of the mountain (and through most of the ride up) was accomodating, it changed rapidly as we approached the peak. When we arrived at the tram station near the summit we were engulfed in a blizzard; something we Floridians were not quite prepared for. Although we dressed warmly, one of or main goals was to get some pictures of Albuquerque from the top ofthe mountain. We waited for hours at the summit, but there was no break in the cloud cover. Fortunately, the blizzard let up on a few occasions, long enough for us to play around in the snow and walk over to the restaurant - one of the highest restaurants in North America. And... they serve hot chocolate, which we downed several cups of while waiting for the clouds to part.

We finally decided that the cloud cover was there to stay and took the tram back to base. As the tram descended below the cloud cover we did get some good views of Albuquerque at night. We'll add this to our list of must-see attractions... just check the weather reports in advance so you'll actually have something to see.
