Overall

The love and compassion shown to our Welsh Corgi when we had to put her to sleep was so appreciated. Dr. Gose came to our home and made the whole process so easy for our family to bear. Kind and compassionate and caring staff...would highly recommend.

The Abilene Animal Hospital did a great job with my animals! They are very caring and attentive to them and my needs. They worked with me in everyway, to make my trip to them as convenient as possible. Althogh they are a little pricy on some things, they are great!

Dr. Jon Gose is a practicing veterinarian and part owner of Abilene Animal Hospital.Â His special interest is small animal orthopedic and soft tissue surgery and dentistry. He has received advanced training in orthopedic surgery and is certified to perform the TPLO (Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy) and the CBLO (Cora Based Leveling Osteotomy) in order to repair cranial cruciate ligament injuries. He has training from the Colorado Pet Dental Training Center and the Animal Dental Training Center in Baltimore, MD in order to perform advanced oral surgery and dentistry.
Veterinary Surgery
Probably the most common soft tissue surgery performed on pets besides routine spays and neuters, are the removal of masses or lumps. Most of these masses, once removed and tested, are found to be benign (nonharmful); however, occasionally they are more serious. Early removal and accurate diagnosis of a lump is necessary to improve the outcome in your pet if the mass is cancerous.

Laboratory Services
AJ earned a BS in Biology from Kansas State University with skills in laboratory diagnostic procedures. She is the primary receptionist for the swine department, and manages our in-house laboratory. Â She is knowledgeable in all areas of animal export and interstate movement of animals. Â Her hobbies include wildlife rehabilitation and dog training.

Treatment for dental diseases varies from pet to pet and should be assessed after dental x-rays and careful consideration of your pet's age, breed, and the individual circumstances.Â We will work with you to select a treatment method that will achieve the best results.Â Abilene Animal Hospital has the most up-to-date equipment, which allow us to ensure the best possible outcome. Â Anesthetic safety is a priority. Â Our well-trained staff and sophisticated monitoring equipment allows us to provide general anesthesia at a very high level of safety.
Microchipping
We offer complimentary Rabies and Distemper/parvovirus vaccination, examination, and AVID Microchipping to all pets that are adopted from us.Â Pets will have had a fecal and heartworm test performed prior to going to their forever homes.Â Depending on your new pet's needs, we can also perform further vaccinations as well as spay/neuter procedures if necessary at an additional cost.
